Individualized Education Program (IEP)
An IEP (Individual Education Program) is an important legal document. It defines your child’s learning needs, the services the school will provide and how your child's progress will be measured.
Several people, including parents, are involved in creating this document. The entire process can be a great way to sort out your child’s strengths and key areas of focus. Working on your child's IEP can help you figure out constructive ways to help your child succeed in school.
Creating an effective IEP often takes time, effort and patience. At Ohio Special Education Advocacy, we’ll walk you through every step of this process as we believe the more you know about the process, the better you can support your child.
Please note, Ohio Special Education Advocacy are not attorneys. However, we are extremely helpful in assisting in the IEP process between parents and their child's school. We can provide valuable and meaningful information about special education options and IEP requirements. We know and understand local school district's resources and can suggest solid solutions to set your child up for success.
Ohio Special Education Advocacy's goal is simple:
In keeping with the US Department of Education's regulation, we also support that all children with disabilities have available to them a free appropriate public education (FAPE) that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepares them for further education, employment, and independent living (source: [34 CFR 300.1(a)] [20 U.S.C. 1400(d)(1)(A)].
