If we could first know where we are, and whither we are tending, we could better judge what to do, and how to do it.”

Evaluation Team Report (ETR)
The ETR is a very important document as it summarizes the multi-factored evaluation data taken on your child and provides the school and parents a foundation for writing the child's IEP (Individualized Education Program). Parents have a right to meaningfully participate in the ETR process, to receive a copy of the ETR, and to disagree, in part or whole, with the findings in the ETR. Parents also have a right to request that the school district pay for an independent educational evaluation (IEE) with a provider who is not an employee of the district and of the parents choosing if parents disagree with the school district's evaluation.
Whether you disagree with your child's ETR or would like help with creating an ETR that identify your child's strengths and key areas to focus on, Ohio Special Education Advocacy can help. We will guide you on the most appropriate way to effectively use the information in the report and/or communicate your concerns or disagreement with the report.
Developing a meaningful ETR that addresses your child's strengths and key areas to focus on at the very beginning of this process is paramount to the development of a student's effective and appropriate IEP. Ohio Special Education Advocacy can help work towards securing an ETR that addresses all of your child's needs.
