Behavior Intervention Plan

Based on an assessment of your child's behavior, a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is designed to replace unwanted behaviors with desired behaviors.

Success in school requires any child to be able to complete their assigned tasks, get along with other children & teachers, and follow the rules … basically do their best.  Children identified with unwanted or challenging behaviors many times require and benefit from a BIP.

Ohio Special Education Advocacy can help you work with the school to identify specific behavioral area(s) of concern, and develop a plan that is designed to teach and reward your child’s positive behavior.  The objective of a BIP is to help your child learn problem solving skills and more appropriate ways to respond when your child is faced with a situation that may escalate unwanted behavior(s).

These types of plans require data to be collected by the school and the plan must be monitored closely by the school staff that works with your child.  Based on the child's performance, this plan can be adjusted as needed.  We can provide assistance to you and partner with the school to work towards a plan that meets your child’s needs.
